SOUPS

We strive to maintain a mix of vegetarian, vegan and meat-centric options. Please ask your barista about our daily soups, daily lunch special, and weekly vegan special.

SALADS

The Green Door  (Vegan) 5.95

A classic green salad with lots going on.  Crisp romaine and buttercrunch lettuces with ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, black olives, sliced mushrooms, and spring onions.   Served with your choice of dressing.

The Greek (Vegetarian) 6.95

Robust greens, red onions, feta cheese and kalamata olives, all tossed with a greek-style lemon vinaigrette.   Served with a side of warm pita bread.

The French Kiss 8.95

Our version of the classic French “Salade Nicoise.”   Buttercrunch lettuce with ripe tomatoes, kalamata olives, haricots vert, hardboiled egg, chunk tuna, and soft-boiled potatoes – all lightly dressed with a subtle white-balsamic vinaigrette.   Served with a chunk of warm baguette.

APPETIZERS/SMALL PLATES

Pulled Pork Nachos 6.95

Fresh house-made potato chips covered with slow-cooked, fall-off-the-bone pork shoulder, an obscene slathering of Amanda’s secret barbeque sauce, and topped with your choice of cheese, melted to gooey perfection and garnished with fresh green onions.  Enough for a meal, but made to share.

Brat Bites 5.25

Juicy hunks of locally-made bratwurst, wrapped in crispy pastry, and served with our house-made, coarse-ground mustard.

Bread-n-Butter  (Vegetarian) 2.75

Sometimes, simplicity is best.   A warm, crusty half-baguette from our friends at Black Bear Bakery, served with plenty of fresh, unsalted butter.   Add in a cup of good coffee with real cream, and you have Andy’s choice for his Death-Row final meal.

Garlic and Olive Oil Veggie Bake  (Vegan) 6.95

Layers of potato, zucchini, red pepper, tomato, mushroom, red onion and seasoned breadcrumbs, baked to hot, bubbly perfection.

Soft Pretzel with Mustard  (Vegetarian.  Sorry Vegans, pretzel contains dairy whey.) 4.25

2 soft, warm Companion pretzels, served with our house-made, coarse-ground mustard.   We’ll cover those bad boys with your choice of melted cheese for an additional 75 cents.

Crudités with Herb Cheese or Hummus  (Vegetarian w/ cheese.   Vegan w/ hummus.) 4.95

A selection of fresh vegetables (varies by availability) served with Boursin cheese or our house-made hummus.

Bacon-wrapped Water Chestnuts 6.25

We wrap crunchy, tangy water chestnuts in a layer of hickory-smoked bacon, then pop them in the oven until they are crispy and sizzling.   Then we give them a light brown-sugar glaze, and send them on their way to you.

 

SANDWICHES and COMBOS

The Black and Blue 6.95

Thick slices of medium-rare Black Angus roast beef, topped with real blue cheese and a spicy horseradish sauce.  Served with lettuce and tomato on the side.

The Big German Sausage (a.k.a. “The Schnitzengruben” – limit 14 per customer) 5.95

Locally-made bratwurst, steamed in Schlafly hard cider, and served nestled under a bed of warm sauerkraut, all on a warm, soft, Companion pretzel.   With our house-made, coarse-ground mustard on the side.

The Poly (Vegetarian or Vegan depending on choices)   6.25 veg 7.25 non veg

No need to marry yourself to a single sandwich choice.  Build your sandwich the way you like it.  Pick your bread from our varieties of Black Bear Bakery products, meat (or not) cheese (or not) and your veggies, plus choose from condiments including our house-made coarse-ground mustard, horseradish, and more.

The Swinger (Vegetarian or Vegan depending on choices) 7.25

This is the combo for those who like to keep their options open.

Pick any two: Half sandwich – Cup of soup – Half salad

The Holden Caulfield (a.k.a “The Catcher in the Rye”) 5.95

A generous pile of thinly sliced ham and swiss cheese, nestled between two slices of Lickhalter Rye, provided courtesy of our friends at Black Bear Bakery.   Served hot or cold, with lettuce, tomato, and pickle on the side.

The Chauvinist Pig 7.25

Heaping piles of our slow-cooked pulled pork shoulder, thin-sliced ham, and hickory-smoked bacon, topped with your choice of Amanda’s secret BBQ sauce, or spicy, melty, nacho cheese sauce.   Served with jalapeños on the side.

The LGBTQ 5.95

Our twisted BLT.  Crisp Bacon, lettuce and ripe tomato on warm pita bread with Queso cheese.  *L*ettuce, *G*yro bread (pita), *B*acon, *T*omato, *Q*ueso.

The Adult PBJ 5.95

Creamy peanut butter and our special Basil-Berry reduction, spread onto two slices of lusty sourdough and lightly grilled.

The Farmer’s Daughter (Vegetarian with Cheese.  Vegan without.) 6.95

Roasted Portobello mushrooms, zucchini slices, red peppers, fresh tomato, and a rich chipotle dressing.   We lay this girl out on a hunk of crusty baguette, then serve her up all hot and bothered, fresh from the panini grill.   After that, it’s up to you what you do to with her.    Add cheese for 75 cents.
